Happy Halloween 2008!!!

Ok.....Here are the Halloween pictures we took yesterday!! As you can imagine I took ALOT of photos, but here are the best ones! Connor helped us hand out the candy to the adorable kids that came to the house. He seemed to LOVE seeing all the dressed up kids at the door. I hope you enjoy them!!

As you can see from the pictures, Connor is sitting up all on his own now. On Tuesday (10-28-08), for the first time he went from the crawling position to the sitting position all by himself. And more than once! So that is a milestone to note for us.

This is the pumpkin we picked out at the Black Island Farms. I thought it came out great considering I really did not know what I was doing while carving it. But Connor seemed to love it. He kept trying to hug it!!

While waiting on the trick-or-treaters we just played in the living room as a family. We had a lot of fun just hanging out with Connor and he seemed to enjoy just having the freedom to crawl around and play with us.

Connor is starting to get into the traditional crawling position. But once he is in it, he just rocks back and forth alot until he decides he wants to go somewhere. Then he goes back to the military crawl. It is pretty darn funny to watch.

Around 7:30 a short rain storm rolled in. But after it rolled out, not too many more kids came to the door. So Dave took the time to install the babygate on that set of stairs. And as you can see, it was installed in reponse to Connor's fascination with the stairs.

Black Island Farms' Corn Maze

On Saturday we took Connor to a LARGE Corn Maze in Syracuse. It was alot of fun! I had never been to a corn maze or even walked through a corn field, but we had a great time. I think Dave and I had alot more fun than Connor did, but he seems to have fun regardless of what we are doing as long as he is being held and carried around.

We did the last portion of the maze at night. It was great walking through all of the corn in the dark!

We also went on a night time tractor ride out to the pumpkin patch to pick our pumpkin. It was alot of fun and honestly, very romantic. Or it would have been romantic if Connor had not been strapped to me. But oh well, it was great with him there. We ended up picking out a pretty big pumpkin that we will carve up this week for Halloween. It should be fun!

At the farm there were lots of other things to do as well. We saw farm animals (goats, pigs, peacocks, cows, chickens, and even moutain goats climbing), a playground made of hay, and a bonfire to sit around. It was fun and I am looking forward to going there again next year when Connor is walking and talking and able to enjoy it even more.

October Motorcycle Ride

Sunday we went on an approx. 300 mile Motorcycle Road Trip. This was my first motorcycle ride with Dave since last October. I had fogotten how much fun it was to ride on the back of the bike with him. I wish I had done it more this year but with Connor and all, it seemed I never had the time. To tell you the truth, today was the FIRST time Dave and I did anything other than work without Connor. It was sort of nice. I mean, I missed him and felt a small hint of guilt but it was nice. For this ride, there were 9 bikes total in the group and everyone was really great. All different types of bikes but everyone rode well and stayed together as a group well. The group met up at the University of Utah Football Stadium at 10am and from there went pretty far out East into the state and back round again. We ended up arriving home close to 5pm. This morning was pretty chilly but by the end of the ride it was really great weather. We honestly could not have asked for better. I know Dave will be hoping to get in another ride next weekend since the weather is looking to be so great again.

Another Halloween Party

Today we all attended a Halloween Party for the new kids gym in town. They had a HUGE turnout of kids all dressed in costumes from newborn up to about 10 years old. Connor was not in his costume this time but he was in a Halloween outfit which was adorable. (Or at least I think it was!) Honestly the party was a little too crowded for our taste but Connor seemed to have a great time there. Which I am glad cause we are going to start going to classes there next month.

After we got home I took a few more pictures of him playing in his playpen. He was having such a great time dancing to the music of his mobile. I hope you enjoy!

An October Afternoon

Last weekend (the 19th) Dave continued building our DOG SHED. Yes, dog shed. Even though it should be more aptly titled "The Dog Palace", as you can see.

It is coming along well and since the day was beautiful we decided to put Connor out there as well so he could enjoy the sunshine. Since day 1 Connor has always loved being outside. There is something about it that immediately calms him down and fascinates him. As you can see, he is so calm he normally falls asleep (the picture below with him on the blanket was from September, but I still love it of him).

Annie really has taken to Connor being around. She even lets him pet her which is very brave of her considering he does more grabbing and pulling than actual petting. But as you can see she rarely leaves his side when he is in the backyard. And I think he prefers it that way.

This is Annie's Protective Face. Which means she was actually yawning, but hey....she was trying.

Connor's First Halloween Party

Today was the Northern Wasatch Moms Group's Halloween Party at the Layton City Park. It was alot of fun. Most of the kids there were from the age of 6 months to about 5 years old. The moms were very nice and alot of fun and it was great to see such cute kids in so many cute costumes. The group below was just a few of the moms and kids that came to the party. There were alot more that had come and gone by the time this picture was taken.

Connor was a hit at the party. Between his overall cuteness (yes, I am biased), non-stop babbling and military-style crawling. Most of the moms were amazed that a kid only 6 months old was crawling after his banana (Dave's Banana Luggage) with such force. So I videotaped it. It is almost a minute long but I thought it was cute (again, I am biased). Hope you like it!

Medical Update

Ok, so yesterday we went to see Connor's Cardiologist for his 6 month check-up. And I just wanted to share the good news.........

Connor is doing GREAT!

It seems that the holes in his heart are healing up on their own and the doctor thinks he will do great! We don't have to go back for another checkup till his 1st Birthday. So a BIG "Thank You!!" to everyone for your concerns, well wishes, and prayers. It really meant alot to know so many people were concerned about Connor.

Connor's First Snow!

Last night and today it snowed!! Yup....SNOW!! We got a few inches and it was beautiful. But alas it is not meant to last very long. The weather man said it would be back in the 60s by the middle of the week. So that will be nice. But for this weekend, we got to enjoy the snow and let Connor see what it was all about. I think that he liked it too!

6 Months Old and Counting!

On October 09, 08 Connor turned 6 months old. It is hard to believe that it was 6 months ago he was born. It feels like it was just yesterday and yet at the same time it feels like it was a lifetime ago. He has grown and changed so much in the last six months that it makes us so excited to see what he will do in the coming six months!

Connor is starting to sit up on his own. He is not too great at it and still needs a small amount of assistance, but he is getting alot better! The hardest part now is keeping his attention on sitting up, and not falling over trying to reach for a toy. I am sure he will be sitting up soon all on his own and taking in the world from that view.

We saw on Friday that Connor is getting his first tooth! It has broken through the gum on the bottom and is well on its way out.

Our baby proofing is still in full swing cause Connor is still getting more mobile with each day. The doctor said he was very pleasantly surprised at how well Connor moves around for being only 6 months old! So that is a good thing to hear as a first time parent. (even if he was probably just trying to stoke my ego a little) :-)

I hope that you enjoy the video below of him moving around. As you can see he gets frustrated after a short while. But I guess I would too if it required that much energy for me to move around. But it is still fun to watch him go when he thinks no one is watching!

Well other than that, things are going great here. We are really looking forward to Halloween and all the neighborhood kids that will be coming to the door trick-or-treating. Connor is going to help Mom and Dad hand out the candy and will be a dressed up like a Monkey this year....and yes, there will be lots of pictures to see.

It's Haircut Time Again.....

Well Connor and I both got a haircut on Sept 24. And now we have pictures to show the final products. I figured since I wanted to cut my hair off, I might as well cut alot of it off and donate it. So hopefully Locks for Love will enjoy the donation.
It is amazing to me how some little boys are bald at Connor's age and yet he has had to have two haircuts just to stay looking presentable. This haircut did not go as smoothly as the last one though. The first haircut he was calm and cool and totally loving it. This one, he wiggled and swirmed in my arms the entire time. The hairdresser finally gave up and called it good. Which was ok with me. I think he looks handsome anyways. We will just try again later.
