5 Month Pictures

I just wanted to post some pics of Connor taken at the 5 month mark. We are trying to get photos at each month's milestone just so the family (and friends) can see how he is growing up over the course of time. At 5 months he is showing every classic text book sign that he is going to be getting some teeth soon. The massive quantities of drool, non-stop chewing, slight fever on occasion, and sometimes irritable behavior. But that has been going on for a while, so we will see when it eventually happens.

Connor is also getting really close to sitting up on his own. He still needs a small amount of assistance to not topple over. But he can sit up for a good 30 sec now. (Yup, we count the small milestones). Lastly, he is starting to get mobile. Our house is not ready but he sure is. He knows now that he can roll or scoot just about any place he needs to get to on the living room floor. He is figuring out how to get into the position for crawling so I am sure that will be coming soon enough. Lets just hope that me, Dave and the house are ready for him!

We are moving on up to Rice Cereal!

On Sept 19 Connor started eating rice cereal from a spoon. He was great at it from the start, or atleast a lot better than was expected for a 5 month old. I must say, the food does not look appetizing at all but Connor seems to think it is great.
Our only problems now are........
1.) Getting the food into his mouth fast enough to make him happy
and
2.) Holding his hands while he is eating to keep him from "helping" you get the spoon into his mouth faster. Cause as it turns out, he is not nearly as helpful as he thinks he is.

Connor is fascinated with cameras. So I could only get in a shot or two while Dave was feeding him since Connor started to become more interested in the camera than in eating.

Labor Day Weekend

The week leading up to Labor Day Weekend, I had been in training classes in Houston, Tx. So on that Thursday I flew to Austin, TX and was able to hangout with Sharee and her family that night. It was great getting to see her, Jason, and the kids. Kaleb really is becoming the most wonderful and intelligent little man. And Kage....wow, Kage is walking and talking and just a huge bundle of energy! It was so weird to see him that grownup, since the last time I saw him he was only 3 weeks old! It is scary to think that Connor is going to be walking and talking just like Kage before I even know it.

That Friday, Dave flew with Connor to Austin, TX to meet me so we could drive down to Kerrville to see Grandma Beverly and James. Connor did great on his second flight, which was really nice since Dave had to fly with him all by himself. That weekend we went to see James Avery Jewelry, which is something I love doing with my Grandma Beverly. And we went to eat at Mamacitas! A place I LOVE to eat at.

On Sunday my sister Melissa, her friend Robert, my cousin Danny, my Uncle Danny and his wife Cathy all came over to my grandma's house for a BBQ. It was alot of fun and a great time. My wonderful husband Dave did all of the cooking so the Nelson clan could just sit back and enjoy getting to see eachother. And of course, Connor was the star of the show and really got passed around and loved on.

All in all, it was a great weekend. I was lucky enough to watch my son spend time with his Great Grandparents. He was sang to, talked to, held, loved and just completely adored by them. These are memories that we will cherish forever and we know we are truly lucky to experience.

Connor's First Texas Tech Game

This last weekend we went to Reno, Nevada to see The Texas Tech Red Raiders play The University of Nevada Wolfpack. It was Connor's first big roadtrip (550 miles each way) and his first Texas Tech football game. I have to say, he did great! He had fun playing around in the hotel rooms.

And he really was not fussy for 95% of the car ride. Of course, he waited to get fussy till we were only 2 hours from home! But I was still really pleased with how well he did. As you can see below he found ways to entertain himself in the car.

At the game he was a hit. Everyone kept commenting on how cute he was in his Texas Tech shirt (Thanks Grandpa Terry and Grandma Debbie) with his Texas Tech pacifier (Thanks Nana). And well....he was just plain cute. Dave and I took him to see the TTU Alumni Trailer and party and ended up sitting in the shaded grassy area near the party for a while prior to the game. He was pretty happy just sitting in Dave's lap on the grass.

The game was great. We won and there were TONS of Tech fans there. I was very pleasantly surprised at how many Tech fans showed up for a game in Reno, NV. You can see them in the Red Section of the Stands in the picture. We met fans from Midland, Austin, Dallas, and even some from Sacramento, California too! The Nevada fans were great. They were pleasant and had great sportmanship. It would be great if all fans welcomed visitors with the same grace and open arms.


All in all it was a great trip. And I am so glad that I got to watch a Texas Tech Football game live with my husband and my son. I cant wait to do it again!

As an added bonus, there was a hotair balloon race happening in Reno that weekend. So we got to see about 50 hotair balloons in the sky on Sunday morning. It was spectacular.

Motorcycle Racing

This summer Dave got to do his motorcycle track riding at Miller Motorsports Park, which is about 30 miles west of Salt Lake City. It is a World Class facility that actually does host professional motorcycle racing on the national and world level. And as you can guess we were there at these races in June with all three of the kids. Connor did not seem to even notice we were there for the most part, but Abby and Jacob really seemed to have a good time.

But aside from the professional racing, Dave actually is involved in riding on the track with APEX and NESBA. This lets him get better at his riding and provides me and the kids with alot of entertainment for the day.
